Berkeley: An English Country Estate
24 x 30'
The Berkeley Estate in Gloucestershire, is the oldest family owned estate in England. It's centrepiece is a magnificant medieval castle which the family have lived in for more than 850 years.
Both the estate and the family have played a key role in English and American history; the castle was attacked by Oliver Cromwell during the English Civil War, Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream was written for a Berkeley wedding and King Edward II was reputedly murdered in the castle cell.
With unprecedented access to a previously private family, this series is an honest and inspiring portrait of what is increasingly becoming a forgotten way of life. The series offers a refreshing and extraordinary insight into the Berkeley Family's way of life, while presenting great stories expertly told.
